From Staff And Wire Reports

The first of this year’s 12 Lilac princesses was chosen Monday.

Angie Boyd, a Gonzaga Prep senior, was chosen to represent her school after competing with four other students, said Denise Hamp, vice president of royalty for the Lilac Festival.

Boyd, 18, plans to attend the University of Portland and study elementary education. Her activities include softball, the honor society and cheerleading.

She is the daughter of Russ and Debi Boyd of Spokane.

Once the 12 princesses are chosen, they will gather at 7 p.m. April 13 for the coronation of the Lilac Queen.
