Illness Hits Nebraska Star

Compiled From Wire Services

University of Nebraska quarterback Tommie Frazier was sick with a serious sinus infection over the weekend and had to be treated at a hospital, the son of football coach Tom Osborne said.

Mike Osborne said that Frazier took ill when he visited Norfolk, where he appeared at a book store to sign posters.

Frazier, who led Nebraska to its second straight NCAA title in January, missed most of his junior football season with blood clots. Mike Osborne would not elaborate on Frazier’s condition, and it was not clear if the weekend illness was related to clots.

The Associated Press checked with every hospital in Lincoln and with the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. All said Frazier was not a patient.

Frazier was named most valuable player in Nebraska’s Fiesta Bowl victory over Florida.
