Oregon Man Crushed By Soda Machine

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 26-year-old man was found crushed to death beneath a soda pop machine at the motel where he was a maintenance worker.

Police said Casey Allen Ellis of The Dalles was found dead shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday by another employee at the Shilo Inn.

Police Sgt. Ed Goodman said Ellis had been trapped beneath the machine for three to four hours.

Police were investigating why the machine, which weighed 700 to 800 pounds, toppled over on the man.

“It certainly appears to be accidental,” Goodman said.

A fire crew was called to lift the machine off the victim.
