Toughman Contests Banned

An athletic commission has banned the Toughman boxing contest, in response to the death of a 23-year-old participant in December.

The Kansas City, Kan., Athletic Commission voted 3-1 against ever sanctioning another Toughman Contest, which the city had sanctioned for 17 years. The contest is a boxing exhibition featuring local residents fighting in three 1-minute rounds.
