Woman Gets 14 Months In Wenatchee Child Sex Investigation

Associated Press

A woman who continued to claim her innocence two months after pleading guilty to first-degree incest was sentenced to 14 months in prison for her role in the alleged child sex ring in Wenatchee.

Donna Hidalgo was originally charged with eight counts of child rape and molestation, accused of molesting two children who lived in the Cashmere Street home of her father and stepmother, Harold and Idella Everett.

A mistrial was declared Sept. 29 when a Chelan County Superior Court jury deadlocked 11-1 on a verdict, with he majority of the jurors voting in favor of conviction.

She pleaded guilty Nov. 7 to the reduced charge with an Alford plea, which means a defendant does not admit guilt but acknowledges he or she is likely to be convicted.

Chelan County Superior Court Judge John Bridges sentenced Hidalgo on Wednesday. Prosecutor Gary Riesen said Hidalgo likely will spend less than six months in prison, since she will receive credit for the eight months she spent in jail before she was released on bail.
