Boy Arrested After Snowmobile Chase

A teenager was arrested Saturday on charges of stealing two snowmobiles and taking one for a spin, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department said.

The 17-year-old boy driving the snowmobile tried to elude sheriff’s deputies in the Valley but lost control after hitting a curb shortly after 5:30 a.m. After a brief foot chase, he was caught.

The snowmobiles were reported stolen from a trailer in the 14000 block of East DeSmet. One was abandoned because it didn’t start, authorities said.

The boy is being held in the county Juvenile Detention Center on two counts of taking a motor vehicle without permission.
