Three Tickets Win $65.3 Million Lottery

Compiled From Wire Services

Three tickets matched the correct numbers in Britain’s lottery and their owners will split the record $65.3 million jackpot, organizers said Sunday.

Camelot Group PLC, which runs the lottery, did not know whether the winners were individuals or groups of people who pooled their resources for Saturday’s draw. Each winner will pocket $21.7 million.

More than 100 million tickets at $1.55 apiece were sold for the lottery, the largest ever, Camelot said. Prizes totaled $126 million.

The lottery chooses six numbers ranging from 1 to 49; the odds of picking the winning combination are about 14 million to 1.
