Knife Threat Ends In Arrest Of Suspect

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 45-year-old former garbage man after he threatened a former co-worker with a homemade spear and a 10-inch knife at a North Market gas station last week.

William Feldmiller of Mead remained in custody in Spokane County jail Tuesday on a $4,060 bond for a variety of charges, including criminal intimidation and an outstanding warrant for driving while intoxicated.

According to witnesses, an employee of Spokane Waste Management stopped at a Texaco station at 12305 N. Market when he was contronted by Feldmiller.

According to witnesses, Feldmiller waved a metal rod that had been sharpened at both ends, at the garbage man. The garbage man walked into the gas station and Feldmiller followed him. He pulled a 10-inch knife out of his pants and began making slashing and stabbing movements. The garbage man calmed Feldmiller and talked him into leaving the store, according to police. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and arrested Feldmiller.

Where’s Smokey?

Smokey the iguana is green, shaped like a summer sausage with a tail, and is a vegetarian. If you see the little fella give the cops a call.

Smokey was taken from his cage in a West Central apartment two weeks ago. Police suspect the robber had an iguana fetish, because nothing else was stolen.
