Diana Rapelje Recognized In High School Who’s Who
Diana Rapelje of Nine Mile Falls has been recognized in Who’s Who Among American High School Students for scholastic ability and community service. Rapelje will graduate from Northwest Christian School in spring.
Seven Inland Northwest high school seniors will be recognized as Good Citizens today by the Esther Reed Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Selected by faculty and classmates based on dependability, service, leadership and patriotism, the students and their high schools are:
Sasha Jackowich, East Valley; Melanie Burtzoff, West Valley; David Gosse, Cheney; Heidi White, Colville (Wash.); Tim Coley, Davenport (Wash.); Max Johnson, Liberty (Spangle); and Neil Jermstrom, Reardan (Wash.).
Heather Shannon, Spokane, has been named a Junior Accolade by the Oregon State University’s Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, an honor sorority. Students must rank in the top 10 percent of their class. Shannon is a senior majoring in English.
Melissa Holcomb, Spokane, was recently selected Cadet of the Semester from the freshman Army ROTC class at Pacific Lutheran University. She was judged on appearance, conduct and knowledge of the Army.
Holcomb, daughter of Janice Holcomb and Keith Holcomb, both of Spokane, graduated from Ferris High School and attends PLU under an ROTC nursing scholarship.
Bruce Ely, Spokane, a junior at the University of Montana, won $500 for placing sixth in a photojournalism contest of 41 students.
Seven Inland Northwest students were named to the fall semester honor roll at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. The students who earned a 3.5 grade-point average or better:
Darby Jane Whittle, Chattaroy; Jodi Lynn Cunnnigham, Lisa K. Deehr, Monica Rae Foster, Julie M. Nebeker and Raelene Marie Peterson, all of Spokane; and Drew Mark Davenport, Veradale.
