Freeman schools need support from voters
As a resident in the Freeman School District, I am writing to request your support of the upcoming vote on replacing the maintenance and operations levy for Freeman schools.
The Freeman School District M&O levy is not a new tax, it only replaces an existing levy which provides for local dollars to continue to support quality education. These local dollars represent approximately 20 percent of the total cost of funding our children’s education at Freeman. The levy will provide funding for items such as textbooks and a new heating boiler at the high school.
Freeman continues to be a model of public economic efficency. The levy percentage requested is only 19.8 percent, when most other local districts request 24 percent.
Freeman students continually receive high marks academically, while learning in a positive environment.
Please vote “yes” when you mail in your ballot or go to the polls Feb. 6. Mark R. Wilkerson Spokane
