Plans To Expand Gorge Campground Ok’d

Grant County has approved plans to more than double the size of a campground at the Gorge Ampitheatre, the popular summer concert site.

The expansion approved by the Board of Adjustments will add another 52 acres, or 3,000 spaces, and will boost the campground’s size to about 80 acres.

The extra space is needed to accommodate the growing number of concert goers who spend the night at the remote site, campground owner Martin Hanson said Wednesday. The ampitheatre overlooks the Columbia River and is about 125 miles from both Seattle and Spokane.
