Elizabeth Dole Breaks Wrist In Fall

Compiled From Wire Services

Elizabeth Dole, wife of Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole, broke her arm Sunday when she slipped on ice while walking the couple’s dog near their home, the senator’s presidential campaign said.

Dole, who is on leave from the American Red Cross to campaign for her husband, attended church and joined some family members for brunch before seeking treatment, the campaign said in a statement.

When her arm continued to ache, she went to nearby George Washington University Medical Center and was diagnosed with a fractured wrist. She was fitted with a plaster splint, which is to be replaced by a cast in seven to 10 days that will remain on four to six weeks.

Sen. Dole, who was campaigning in California, kept in touch by telephone and sent his wife yellow roses and a pepperoni pizza for dinner, the campaign said.
