Albert Kelling Rathdrum, Idaho

Service for Albert R. Kelling, Sr., 82, was held Saturday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home in Spokane.

Mr. Kelling, a Spokane native, died Tuesday.

He served in the Army in World War II and retired from the Great Northern Railroad in 1974.

He was a member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1474 in Hillyard, and a member of Post No. 889 in Coeur d’Alene. He also was a member of the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; four sons, Albert Kelling of Rathdrum, Ronald Kelling and Kenneth Kelling Sr., both of Spokane, and Charles Kelling, of Boise; two daughters, Kathren Sisson and Marjorie Dewey, both of Spokane; sister, Helen Bartell of Spokane; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Gordon Richardson Spokane

A memorial service for Gordon B. Richardson, 88, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Baptist Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of the cremation and arrangements.

Mr. Richardson, born in Leadville, Colo., died Wednesday.

He graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor of ceramic engineering degree in 1929.

He retired from the Mobil Oil Corp.

He was a charter resident of The Waterford and a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Spokane Rifle Club.

His wife, Vicki Richardson, died in 1995.

Mr. Richardson’s survivors include one son, Gordon Richardson of Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter, Sharon Bonney of Portland; one sister, Ruby Nickerson of Olympia; and two grandchildren.

Edward Bafus St. John, Wash.

Service for Edward Adam Bafus,73, is scheduled for 1 p.m. today at St. John United Methodist Church. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Bafus; and two sisters, Tillie Steiger of Pullman and Rose Shawgo of Lamont, Wash.

Vernon Rugg Kettle Falls, Wash.

Service for Vernon A. Rugg, 89, is scheduled for 1 p.m. today at the Kettle Falls Community Church. Graveside service will follow at the Highland Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Home in Colville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rugg was a retired farmer and sawmill worker.

He was a member of the Kettle Falls Senior Citizens and the Kettle Falls Community Church.

His wife, Connie Rugg, died in 1985.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including David Rugg of Ridgecrest, Calif.

Wade Gonderman Spokane

Memorial service for Wade Ray Gonderman, 42, will be today at 1 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls.

Mr. Gonderman, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Wednesday.

He returned to the area nine years ago and worked as a truck driver.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include a daughter, Amber Gonderman of California; his parents, Del and Dori Gonderman of Post Falls; one brother, Dean of California; and two sisters, Diane Laugen and Sheri Barks, both of California.

Lillian Lehneis Spokane

A private memorial service for Lillian (Hiler) Lehneis, 81, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Thornhill’s Chapel Of The Valley.

Mrs. Lehneis, born in Spokane, died Tuesday.

Her husband, Horace Lehneis, died in 1985.

She had worked for Comstock Arms in the tea room, the Greyhound bus depot, Nalley’s and Hollister-Stier Laboratories.

She was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the Telephone Pioneers.

Survivors include two daughters, Suzie Ward and Beth Sexton, both of Spokane; two stepsons, Kirk Lehneis and Nils Lehneis, both of Maryland; one brother, Walter Krogel, and one sister, Lolita Branson, both of Spokane; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.

Ronald Dieckhoff Spokane

A memorial service for Ronald Dieckhoff, 62, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery with military honors. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dieckhoff, born in Decatur, Ill., died Dec. 27, in Twentynine Palms, Calif., where he was on vacation.

He entered the Air Force in 1952 and served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a gunner on B-52 bombers. He retired from the Air Force in 1973 as a master sergeant. He worked for the Spokane Central Valley School District for 13 years before retiring in 1986.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1435 and the Retired USAF Gunners Association.

Survivors include two sons, Christopher Dieckhoff of Seattle and Jeffery Dieckhoff of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; one daughter, Julie Ann Christianson of Spokane; and four grandchildren.

Freda Koch Spokane

Graveside service for Freda M. Koch, 91, is scheduled at 2 p.m. today at Riverside Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Koch, born in Oakesdale, Wash., died Thursday.

She was a graduate of Cheney Normal School.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and the National Association of Educational Secretaries.

Mrs. Koch had been employed as a secretary at several local elementary schools.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Kristin Houck of Spokane and Dale Tallyn of Seattle.

Steven Heinz Spokane

Service for Steven W. Heinz, 48, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Heinz, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Monday.

He was a dog breeder specializing in beagles.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Heinz; one daughter, Monica Heinz of Spokane; two brothers, William Heinz and Harley Heinz, both of Spokane; and one sister, Vicki Vincent of Alaska.

Esther Berreman Spokane

Service for Esther E. Berreman, 91, is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Manito United Methodist Church. Hennessey Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Berreman, born in Connell, Wash., died Thursday. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, Fred Berreman, died previously.

Survivors include one daughter, Carol Lachman of San Diego; two brothers, Franklin Ulrich of Yakima and Delmont Ulrich of Seattle; one sister, Florence Yager of Spokane; and one granddaughter.

Francis ‘Bob’ McCabe Coeur d’Alene

Funeral Mass for Francis I. “Bob” McCabe, 74, will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. McCabe, who was born in South Dakota, died Thursday.

He served in the Navy during World War II and then worked for the Potlatch Corp. for 43 years.

He enjoyed woodworking, reading and dedicating time to his family.

Mr. McCabe’s survivors include his wife of 39 years, Jacquelin; three sons, Michael, Stephen and John, all of Coeur d’Alene; two daughters, Debra McCabe of Spokane and Tina Haskin of Coeur d’Alene; three brothers, Stephen of Coeur d’Alene, Tom of Tacoma and Philip of Spokane; and one sister, Patricia Turner of Florida.

Glen Raulston Cheney

Service for Glen “Jack” Raulston, 61, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Medical Lake. Burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-Medical Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Raulston, who was born in Williston, N.D., died Tuesday.

He retired from Kaiser Aluminum’s Mead plant in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Raulston; two sons, George Raulston and Randy Raulston, and one daughter, Lori Hansen, all of Medical Lake; five stepchildren; one sister, Jennine Heller of Williston, N.D.; six grandchildren, 11 stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
