U.S. 500 To Be Televised
The U.S. 500, a race scheduled by Championship Auto Racing Teams as an alternative to the Indianapolis 500, will be televised live on ESPN and will at least partly go head-to-head with the world’s most prestigious auto race.
An official announcement is not expected until Thursday at Detroit. However, Adam Saal, director of communications for CART, confirmed the report and said that both ABC, which broadcasts the Indy 500 and is owned by the same company as ESPN, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway have been notified.
Ron Eaton passed Craig Raudman with 46 laps remaining and won the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Tour 150 at Tucson Raceway Park in Tuscon, Ariz.
Mark Groskreutz of Spokane finished 15th.
