Man Held In Theft Of Police Radio
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the burglary of a Spokane police officer’s garage on South Julia in which a portable police radio was stolen.
Nicholas R. Loringer, 212 E. Wedgewood, was booked late Sunday into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of possessing stolen property, the Spokane Police Department said. He remained in jail Monday.
The radio was recovered after a search of Loringer’s home, police said.
Police still are seeking 19- and 15-year-olds in the burglary. Federal authorities may become involved in the case as a result of false crime reports that were given over the radio.
After stealing the radio sometime Saturday, the culprits broadcast obscenities and a series of false crime reports, including bomb threats at several government buildings.
Police officials began hearing false messages over the radio Saturday evening. At least two male suspects and one female used the stolen radio. , DataTimes
