Elizabeth Fisher Spokane
Elizabeth Johanna (Luiten) Fisher, Spokane, celebrated her 100th birthday on Monday.
Born Jan. 15, 1884, in Glencoe, Minn., Mrs. Fisher has lived the past 15 years in Spokane.
She and Chris Fisher were married in 1923; he died in 1972.
In the early 1900s, Mrs. Fisher was a bookkeeper for Michaelson Grocery and Dry Goods in Odessa, Wash., and cooked for harvest crews in Ritzville, Wash. She kept books for the family business in the 1940s.
Mrs. Fisher has two children: Pat Browning of Spokane and Kenneth Fisher of Reardan, Wash.; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
“God has blessed many in our family with long lives,” she said. “We ate mostly home-grown foods, worked hard and took each day as it came.”
