Head-On Collision Injures Two

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two men were injured when their cars collided Wednesday near Sprague, Wash.

Sprague resident Henry Pantoja, 49, and David Balch, 34, of Ritzville were in serious condition Thursday, a Deaconess Medical Center spokeswoman said.

The 5:22 p.m. collision occurred when Pantoja tried to pass a car on state Highway 231, about seven miles north of Sprague, according to the Washington State Patrol. His pickup hit Balch’s car head-on, the WSP said.

Pantoja, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered a ruptured spleen and broken ribs, troopers said. Balch was wearing a seat belt and suffered chest injuries.
