The Duchess of York is more than $1.5 million in debt, according to the British media, thanks to her fondness for designer duds, lavish parties and extravagant vacations.
Last year, the former Sarah Ferguson reportedly spent $124,000 on clothes, gifts, and partying; $111,000 on rent for her London mansion; $620,000 on staff and $80,000 in “walking-around money.” She gets $23,000 a year from estranged husband Prince Andrew.
Responded Fergie: “The truth is I am making cutbacks, huge ones. I don’t know other people’s financial accounts so why should they know mine?”
A Buckingham Palace spokesman said Queen Elizabeth II “has made generous provision to the Duchess of York over a number of years. Management of her financial affairs is the duchess’ responsibility.”
