Key Technology Posts Record Profit For ‘95

Key Technology, a Walla Walla-based manufacturer of automated food processing systems, reported its best year ever in fiscal 1995, with earnings of $3.5 million on sales of $42.7 million.

Those results compared to earnings of $946,000 on sales of $31.1 million for fiscal 1994.<

Export sales jumped 27 percent in fiscal 1995; sales of automated inspection systems and conveying systems, 42 percent. Research and development spending rose 47 percent to $4 million in fiscal 1995.

Key Technology, which employs 340 people, said it plans to increase its 151,000-square-foot plant by 50 percent this year to accommodate a rising demand in orders.
