Con Artist Solicits Money For Sheriff

From Staff And Wire Reports

Shoshone County residents are being warned to be wary of a male telephone caller claiming to be soliciting money for Sheriff’s Department bulletproof vests, the sheriff’s office said Sunday.

A man identifying himself as Arnold Sullivan of the Sheriff’s Department recently called a local resident and said he was collecting money as a fund-raiser for the vests.

Another resident on Sunday reported getting a call from a “Jeff” who said he was collecting funds for officers’ widows and for bulletproof vests.

The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Department isn’t raising money for vests or anything else, said Cpl. Mitch Alexander.

“The county supplies us with that equipment,” he said.
