Dollar Mixed After Talks

The dollar ended mixed Monday against major currencies amid disappointment that industrial nations, which participated in the G7 meeting over the weekend, didn’t try to lift the greenback and worries over new Republican threats to let the United States default.

The talk of allowing a default also boosted gold, typically a hedge in uncertain times.

The dollar fell against the German mark and rose against the Japanese yen.
