Man Who Died Swallowed Bindles

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man who died after a police traffic stop had swallowed several “bindles” commonly used to package street drugs, an autopsy revealed Wednesday.

Toxicology tests to determine whether the bindles contained drugs will take a week or more, Spokane police spokesman Dick Cottam said.

The 30-year-old man’s identity has not been released while police try to locate his family. He died early Tuesday at a local hospital emergency room.

Officers who stopped the man’s car about 1 a.m. for a traffic violation say he passed out after being arrested and placed in a patrol car.

There was no confrontation between the man and officers, Cottam said. The autopsy showed no signs of injuries or obvious causes of death, he said.
