Changes Forecast For ‘Hudson’
Lori Loughlin may be leaving the cast of “Hudson Street” in the near future, and the TV show may get a name change.
According to well-placed sources, there is a view among some of the show’s producers that Loughlin’s liberal-reporter character has not developed adequately, and there have been ongoing talks about whether to write the character out of the show.
ABC declined comment.
The half-hour comedy is struggling to survive after getting whipped a week ago opposite the second episode of NBC’s midseason sitcom “3rd Rock From the Sun” in the Tuesday 8 p.m. time slot. ABC is moving “Hudson Street” out of the Tuesday period and moving in “Coach.”
“Hudson Street” is moving to 8 p.m. Saturdays starting Feb. 3. ABC’s Saturday 8 p.m. sitcom, “The Jeff Foxworthy Show,” is moving to 8:30 p.m., while the Betty White-starrer, “Maybe This Time,” is going on hiatus.
Letterman tops Leno
CBS’ “Late Show With David Letterman” ended the household winning streak of NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” by 3/10ths of a rating point the week ending Jan. 14. Letterman was a full week of original telecasts, and Leno was a full week of repeats.
“Tonight Show” averaged a 4.5/13 to “Late Show’s” 4.8/14, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Season-to-date, “Tonight” remains the leading late-night program in homes and key young adult demographics.
