Season-Opening Indoor Track Meet Attracts O’Brien

The University of Idaho Track and Field team will hold its first indoor meet of the season, the UI Scoring Invitational, on Friday and Saturday.

Idaho alum and current world-record holder in the decathlon Dan O’Brien will be competing as well in the pole vault, the shot put, and the 55-meter hurdles.

The meet is scheduled to get under way at 4 p.m. on Friday with the 35-pound weight throw. It will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday with the men’s and women’s triple jump.

Basketball

Boise State senior guard Michelle Schultz, a graduate of Post Falls High School, was named the Big Sky Player of the Week after leading the Broncos to home victories over Weber State and Northern Arizona last Thursday and Saturday.

Schultz scored 26 points, had nine rebounds and three assists in the Broncos’ 81-78 win over Weber State. Against NAU, she had 24 points, four rebounds and an assist. Schultz leads the conference in scoring averaging 18 points a game.
