Clean Reputation
Camping
Kudos to the Washington Backcountry Horsemen of America for their efforts to police their ranks and set an example for all wilderness travelers.
In a recent newsletter, Washington member Gene Wheeler wrote about his disgust with camp that had been left littered with manure and hay by previous horse packers.
But his words hold true for mountain bikers, too:
“Remember, wherever you have been and wherever you are going, someone will sooner or later follow behind you. That person will see all that you have done along the way and it may make him happy or sad. That person is one voice that will ultimately say where you will go and whether or not your horse can come with you.”
