Norris Retains Title

In Phoenix, Terry Norris stopped Nicaragua’s Jorge Luis Vado at 42 seconds of the second round to retain his World Boxing Council and International Boxing Federation junior middleweight titles. On the same card, Venezuela’s Eloy Rojas remained World Boxing Association featherweight champ with a 12-round decision over Miguel Arrozal of the Philippines.

Also, Bernard Hopkins stopped Steve Frank in the first round to retain his IBF middleweight title.

Mark Breland, former two-time WBA welterweight champ, idle since retiring in 1992, stopped Riccardo Smith 30 seconds into the third round of a junior middleweight bout in New York.
