Public Can Attend Youth Violence Talks

Community members interested in combatting youth violence are invited to attend a daylong conference in downtown Spokane on Saturday.

“Youth Violence: Forging an Effective Community Response” will be presented by the Gonzaga University School of Law and its Thomas More Scholarship Program from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Ridpath Hotel.

The conference is designed for lawyers, counselors, social service professionals and anyone else interested in the topic. Among the speakers are Virginia Weisz, director of the Children’s Rights Project in Los Angeles, Marilee Roloff, director of Breakthrough for Families, Spokane and Washington State University sociology professor Charles Tittle.

The program is to be approved for six hours of continuing legal education credit for Idaho and Washington attorneys. Continuing education credit for teachers and others also may be available.
