Pac-10 Honors Sanford

Mark Sanford, who led Washington to victories against Stanford and California last week, is the Pacific-10 Conference men’s basketball player of the week.

Sanford scored 24 points in Washington’s 74-71 win over Stanford, and had 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 71-69 victory over California.

The Huskies moved into the 28th spot in The Associated Press men’s poll this week with 65 points. Massachusetts (18-0) remains No. 1 and is followed by Kentucky (17-1), Kansas (16-1), Connecticut (19-1) and Cincinnati (14-1).

Boise State guard Joe Wyatt, who led the Broncos to upsets over Montana and Montana State, was named Big Sky Conference player of the week.

Carl Artis, starting guard for Idaho State, has been placed on eight months probation after pleading guilty to fraudulent use of a credit card belonging to another ISU athlete.
