Panel To Hear Bill Letting Cities Charge Impact Fees
A legislative committee agreed Monday to introduce a bill that would allow cities around the state to charge impact fees.
Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls and Kootenai County are pushing the bill, along with the Association of Idaho Cities. Current law allows only communities in Ada County to charge the development fees.
Senate Local Government & Taxation Committee chairman Jerry Thorne, R-Nampa, long has been opposed to expanding impact fees. But he said Monday, “I think this bill is too important for us not to have a hearing.”
Thorne will schedule the hearing within the coming weeks.
