Iran Beefs Up Forces, Navy Officials Warn

Iran has increased its military power in the Persian Gulf over the past year, most recently by testing a new Chinese cruise missile fired from a ship, senior Navy officials said Tuesday.

They said Iran has added to its arsenal two Soviet attack submarines and five Chinese patrol boats, along with the new cruise missile, and has increased its ability to lay mines in the gulf.
