Lake City Runs Past Cheney

The Lake City Timberwolves used a third-quarter outburst to spark a 64-49 victory at Cheney in a non-league boys basketball contest.

The T-Wolves went on a 24-8 run in the third after falling behind by 3 points at the half. The Blackhawks were plagued by 19 fouls to Lake City’s nine.

Scott Hoover led the T-Wolves (13-4) with 21 points and teammate Francis Camantigue added 17.

Cheney was paced by August Parker with 14.

The Eagles got big contributions from a pair of freshman to run away with a non-league victory at home.

Freshman Drew Baker came of the bench to hit 6 of 8 shots from beyond the arc on his way to a game-high 18 points. Another freshman, Jared Bligh, was 7 of 8 from the field to finish up with 15.

The North Idaho Christian Cardinals were led by a 13-point effort from Brandon Koontz.

Along with the big night from the freshmen, Falls Christian (6-9) got 17 points and 13 rebounds from Jared Horton.

Postponed

The Post Falls at Bonners Ferry boys basketball game was postponed Tuesday because school was canceled in Bonners Ferry.

The Lakeside at Wallace boys basketball game was postponed because Lakeside had trouble getting its bus running. No remake date has been set for either game.

The Bonners Ferry at Lakeland Intermountain League wrestling dual also was postponed. The match will be rescheduled at a later date.

A-2 DISTRICT I-II

Priest River 64, Kellogg 41

The Spartans used a smothering defense in the first half on their way to a victory in loser-out play at the District I-II A-2 Tournament at Post Falls.

Priest River held Kellogg to only 7-percent shooting in the first half and turned the Wildcats’ full-court press in the second half into scoring opportunities of its own.

Freshman Krissi Ruiz led the Spartans (11-8) with 19 points and nine rebounds. Kellogg (7-14) was paced by Amy Lemon’s 13 points.

Priest River will face Bonners Ferry (13-6) tonight at 6 p.m. at Post Falls.
