Man Makes Woman Drive To Spokane

A gunman kidnapped a Yakima woman and her toddler and forced them to drive to Spokane on Tuesday, police said.

The woman was putting her 2-year-old daughter into a car seat at their Yakima apartment complex about 6:45 a.m. when the man jumped into the front passenger seat and ordered her to drive, the Spokane Police Department said.

The man had a handgun and threatened to harm the child unless she did what she was told.

At Third and Jefferson in Spokane, the man jumped out of the car. The woman called police about 11 a.m. Neither was hurt.

The kidnapper is described as a white man in his mid-20s, about 5-foot-8 and 135 pounds. He wore a blue stocking cap, a black ski jacket and blue jeans. He man had a large, spider tattoo on the web of his left hand.
