Sandpoint Demolishes Lake City Timberwolves, 66-12

Prep wrestling

The Sandpoint Bulldogs put on a clinic for the Lake City Timberwolves at LC on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs won every weight they had a wrestler in on their way to 66-12 victory in an Inland Empire League dual.

Sandpoint won by pin or forfeit in every match. The T-Wolves’ only points came on Bulldog forfeits at 103 and 189 pounds.

Sandpoint sophomore Jared Lawrence, ranked No. 1 in the country at 112, moved up to 119 and pinned Mike Herrick in 24 seconds.

Colville loses crown

Colville relinquished its share of the Frontier League wrestling title on Tuesday for using an ineligible athlete during a season-ending meet against Riverside.

Colville beat Riverside 41-31 last Thursday but used Dave Naff at 275 pounds. Naff had been disqualified from a Jan. 23 match for biting an East Valley wrestler, and was supposed to sit out the next competition.

Because of Colville’s oversight, league principals voted to deduct six points from its team total and add six to Riverside’s.
