Dollar Cracks 110 Yen Barrier
The dollar finally broke through the 110 yen level Tuesday as new economic data underscored that the U.S. economy is growing faster than Japan’s, making the greenback more attractive in foreign exchange markets.
The dollar also rose against the German mark and most other major currencies partly on its power over the yen.
As of 4 p.m. in New York, the dollar traded at 110.35 yen, up from 109.55 late Monday. The dollar traded at 1.5266 marks, up from 1.5234.
