Mass Grave Confirmed

Compiled From Wire Services

Forensic scientists unearthed a jumble of reeking bodies in an eastern Bosnian wood Tuesday, confirming the existence of a mass grave and adding evidence against Bosnian Serbs under investigation for war crimes.

Investigators exposed at least 10 bodies, using trowels, brushes, a backhoe and shovels to dig out half of a 30-yard-long, 3-yard-deep gravesite in wooded hills northwest of Srebrenica.

They expect to find more bodies as they excavate the rest of the embankment this week.

At a second suspected massacre site in nearby Kravice, a Finnish forensics team quit work Tuesday after recovering about two dozen bodies, said Andrea Angeli, a representative of the international police task force in Bosnia.
