Trails Report

Summer is finally hitting the high Cascades, melting snow and opening trails. Most regions of the Cascades and Olympics are snow-free to at least the 5,500-foot level, but there is a chance some linger snow will be found below that. This weekend the forecasted clear skies suggests hikers should go high to enjoy clear views.

A couple good bets for excellent mountain views are the Johnson Mountain Trail in the Teanaway Area and, for a short hike with great views, the High Rock Lookout Trail south of Randle is among the best there is provided you have no problem with vertigo.
