Dog Declared Dangerous After Attack
The owner of a dog that attacked a 62-year-old man and killed another dog lost an appeal on behalf of her dog Wednesday.
County Commissioner Steve Hasson decided that Tamela Dombrosky’s Alaskan malamute should be declared dangerous because of the June 15 attack on Sharon Gardner and his dog.
Gardner was treated by his doctor for a bite to his right hand. Gardner’s Yorkshire terrier, “Snickers,” died from his wounds.
Dombrosky was charged with owning a dog with dangerous propensities, a misdemeanor, and cited for allowing her dogs to run at large.
Dombrosky has already met the county’s criteria for keeping a dangerous dog and has the dog at home, said Nancy Sattin, county animal control director. Those criteria include liability insurance, keeping the dog in a pen, posting warning signs and muzzling the dog when it is out of the pen.
The county agreed to drop the muzzling requirement because Dombrosky has a well-fenced yard and plans to supervise the dog when it’s out of the pen, Sattin said. That will allow the dog to exercise in the yard, she said.
