Lawrence Barton Colville, Wash.

Service for Lawrence L. Barton, 81, will be at 2 p.m. today at Colville Grace Evangelical Free Church. Graveside service will follow at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville. Danekas Funeral Chapel of Colville is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Ulrick, S.D., Mr. Barton died Friday. He moved to Colville in 1934 to join his brothers.

He married Marjorie Matthews in Colville in 1943.

They operated a dairy farm north of Colville until 1975, when they sold their herd. Mr. Barton then worked for Millhord Construction and retired in 1990.

He and his wife continued to operate a beef ranch.

Mr. Barton was a member of the Colville Eagles Lodge and the Colville Valley Grange.

He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Sheryl McKee and Denese Leake, both of Colville, Joyce Flyckt of Yakima and Sharon Barton of Bend, Ore.; four sons, Roy, Roger and Dennis Barton, all of Colville, and Ron Barton of Littleton, Colo.; three brothers, Virgil and Clarence Barton, both of Colville, and Harold Barton of Spokane; five sisters, Elsie Day and Lyla Richardson, both of Colville, Lucille Moore of Sandpoint, Loretta McBreen of Portland and Vida Mae Meacham of Knoxville, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Robert Clarry Spokane

Funeral Mass for retired Air Force Col. Robert W. Clarry will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Cremation will follow. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr Clarry, who died Thursday, was 76.

He was born in Connecticut.

He served in the Army and the Air Force for a total of 38 years, serving in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam war.

He was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base from 1971 to 1974, and returned to Spokane when he retired in 1978.

He received many medals and awards, including the Bronze Star and a Vietnam Medal of Honor.

He retired in 1978 and went to work as the manager of the Inland Empire Perinatal Center.

He was a member of St. Augustine Parish, the Retired Officers Guild, the Retired Officers Association and was a Medical Service Corps Officer.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia; eight sons, Mark Clarry of Littleton, Colo., and Robert, James, Patrick, John, Matthew, Paul and Raymond Clarry, all of Spokane; one daughter, Mary Clarry of Spokane; three sisters, Eugenia Bresnahan of Coral Gables, Fla., Marjorie Hackett of Huntington, N.Y., and Jacqueline McNally of Babylon, N.Y.; two brothers, Edmond Clarry of Charleston, S.C., and John Clarry II of Virginia; and 16 grandchildren.

Wayne Spence Olympia

Service for Wayne M. Spence, a former Spokane resident, was Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey, Wash.

Mr. Spence died July 7. He was born in Chinook, Mont.

He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane and received a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Washington University. He later received a master’s degree in education from Central Washington University.

Mr. Spence was a special education teacher and had also operated a restaurant.

He served as legislative chairman of the Washington State Council of Adult Family Homes.

Mr. Spence married Mary Lou Newcomb in Coeur d’Alene in 1959. They lived in Eastern Washington, North Idaho, and Gresham, Ore., before moving to Olympia in 1959.

He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Mr. Spence is survived by his wife; three sons, Jeffrey Spence of Olympia, Matthew Spence of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Christopher Spence of Atlanta; four daughters, Lisa Fetters of Holmes Beach, Fla., Jennifer Nokes of Lacey, and Patricia Cambpell and Melissa Spence, both of Olympia; his mother, Lillian Ring of Spokane; a brother, Eugene Spence of Spokane; two sisters, Mildred Eudy and Elinor Getz, both of Spokane; and four grandchildren.

Clifford Zinke Rosalia, Wash.

Service for Clifford C. Zinke, 77, is set for 1:30 p.m. today at Rosalia United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the International Order of Odd Fellows Evergreen Cemetery in Rosalia. Schanzenbach Funeral Home of Rosalia, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Zinke, who was born in Wahoo, Neb., died Friday.

He moved to Rosalia in 1975 and served as superintendent of the Rosalia School District for 10 years. He then served as superintendent of the Steptoe School District for seven years.

He was a member of Rosalia United Methodist Church and the Rosalia Lions Club and served on the Rosalia Planning Commission and numerous public service projects.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Zinke; a son, Robert Zinke of Spokane; a daughter, Charlotte Watership of Denver; a brother, Oliver Zinke of Abilene, Kan.; a sister, Irene Thornton of San Diego; two grandchildren and one stepgrandchild.

Memorials may be made to Rosalia United Methodist Church or the Rosalia Ambulance Fund.

Annette Hepfler Spokane

Funeral Mass for Annette Marie Hepfler, 83, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hepfler, who was born in Chippewa Falls, Wis., died Friday.

She was a drapery seamstress and had lived in Spokane for 44 years.

She was a member of the Elks Lodge, St. Joseph’s Altar Society and the Lakeland Village Associates.

Her husband, Edward Hepfler, died in 1988.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Hepfler of Medical Lake and Linda Ellis of Veradale; two brothers, Joseph and Donald Price, both of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Florence Harstad of Sarasota, Fla., and Rosemary Hassmer of Chippewa Falls; and two grandchildren.

Alvin Wollweber Edwall, Wash.

Graveside service for Alvin O. Wollweber, 73, will be at 12:30 today at the Edwall Cemetery. Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Sprague Community Church. Cheney Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wollweber died Friday.

He was born in Davenport, Wash.

He was a graduate of North Central High School and married June Polenske in 1946 in Spokane.

He grew wheat, barley and hay, and raised cattle in the Reardan/Edwall area.

Mr. Wollweber was a member of Sprague Community Church, Edwall Chemical Board, the West Camp Spokane Gideons, the Washington Association of Wheat Growers and the Bluestem Grange, and was a charter member of the Edwall Lions Club.

He was named the Conservation Farmer of the Year in 1954.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years; a son, Gary Wollweber of Edwall; two daughters, Vicki Fleming of Reardan, Wash., and Wendy Schultz of Edwall; two brothers, Glenn Wollweber of Ford, Wash., and Edward Wollweber of Edwall; and eight grandchildren.

Stella Galvez Spokane

Service for Stella C. Galvez, 85, was Monday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial was at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Galvez died July 8 in Colorado Springs, Colo., where she was visiting.

She was born in Saguache, Colo.

She married Felix Galvez, in 1924. He died in 1990.

She was a 40-year Spokane resident and was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, John Galvez of Colorado Springs and Lee Galvez of Spokane; seven daughters, Margaret Rosario, Elsie Jabbora and Ruth Carter, all of Spokane, Mamie Gomez of Pueblo, Colo., Modesta “Maudie” Cole of Beaverton, Ore., Annella Gagnon of Maine and Judy Reppert of Tatamy, Pa.; a sister, Anne Valdez of Colorado Springs; 41 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jean Rheams Coeur d’Alene

At her request, no service will be held for Jean Frances Rheams, 74. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rheams, who was born in Ford, Wash., died Saturday of cancer-related complications.

She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1935 and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1938. She went on to attend Coeur d’Alene Junior College and North Idaho Junior College. She worked in the budget and finance department of the Idaho Panhandle National Forest for 10 years until her retirement.

Mrs. Rheams was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Bill, in 1976.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Case of Orofino, Idaho, and Carol Rheams of Spokane; a brother, Darrell Baldwin of Montana; two sisters, Hope Meyer of Chewelah, Wash., and Shirley Walton of Arkansas; and two grandchildren, Doug Case of Clarkston, Wash., and Colleen Case of Orofino, Idaho.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in Spokane.

Mary Farmer Laclede, Idaho

Service for Mary D. Farmer, 82, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Laclede Community Church. Burial will follow at the Seneacquateen Cemetery near Priest River, Idaho. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home of Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Born on the family homestead on Lake Coeur d’Alene, Mrs. Farmer died Friday at the Pend Oreille Pines Nursing Home in Newport.

She moved to Spokane and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School.

She worked for The Crescent and later worked at the Spokane County Courthouse and the Veterans Administration Hospital. She retired from the Spokane County Assessor’s Office in 1977 and then moved to Laclede.

She was a member of Audubon Park United Methodist Church in Spokane and Laclede Community Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Farmer of Metaline Falls, Wash.

Louise Burns Inchelium, Wash.

Burial Mass for Louise K. Burns, 100, who was the oldest member of the Colville Confederated Tribes, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Michael’s Mission in Inchelium. Burial will follow at the Hall Creek Cemetery in Inchelium. Danekas Funeral Chapel of Colville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Burns died Friday. She was born in Inchelium.

She had lived in White Swan, Toppenish and Wapato, Wash., before returning to Inchelium in 1956.

She is survived by two daughters, Josie Boyd and Eva Smith, both of Inchelium; 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.

Bobbie Roberts Spokane

Service for Bobbie Walker Roberts, 76, will be at 10 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Roberts, who died Friday, was born in Billings, Mont.

She was a longtime Spokane resident and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by five sons, John, Larry, Pat and Michael Walker, all of Spokane, and David Walker of Newport, Wash.; a stepson, Steve Roberts of Colorado; a stepdaughter, Virginia of Ohio; a sister, Lorene Rigney of Hemet, Calif.; a brother, Bert Coffman of Spokane; 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

William David Spokane

Private service for William J. David, 41, was held.

Mr. David, who was born in Lewiston, died July 7.

He had lived in Spokane for 27 years.

He is survived by two sisters, Sara David-Feyh of Ventura, Calif., and Kathleen Sanborn-Wilson of Silverdale, Wash.; and a special friend, Coral Brown of Spokane.
