Notre Dame Back In Pasadena?

Compiled From Wire Services

More than seven decades after Knute Rockne led Notre Dame to victory in the 1925 Rose Bowl, the gold helmets may be headed back to Pasadena.

Under a proposal being considered by the Rose Bowl partners, officials of the Tournament of Roses would select a team from the college football bowl alliance pool in return for allowing a No. 1- or No. 2-ranked Big Ten or Pac-10 team to appear in the alliance’s national title game.

No change is likely before the 1997 season.
