Political commentator Joe Klein resigned Thursday from CBS News, which said it was “deeply troubled” that he had lied about being the anonymous author of “Primary Colors.”

“This has been a confusing and exhausting few weeks for me - and I feel a strong need to simplify my life at this point,” Klein said in his resignation letter.

He also apologized for any trouble he caused the network by lying about his penning of the best-selling book, which is based on a politician resembling Bill Clinton.
