Hospitals Prepared For Disaster

Compiled From Wire Services

Prepared for a possible Olympics disaster, Atlanta-area hospitals jumped into action early Saturday morning as news of a bomb explosion quickly spread.

Within minutes of the blast at Centennial Olympic Park at 1:25 a.m., emergency crews at Georgia Baptist Medical Center, Grady Memorial Hospital and Piedmont Hospital were putting into action months, even years, of training to treat the injured.

Many of those treated and released at hospitals left wearing hospital gowns and hospital scrubs because they had to leave behind their clothes as evidence.

Each patient was interviewed by the FBI before leaving.
