Woman Admits Leaving Son At Ny Toy Store

A 19-year-old woman behind bars in South Carolina admitted abandoning her little son in a New York City toy store, saying she was unable to provide for the boy anymore, authorities said Tuesday.

Tamekka Adams, 19, of rural Aiken County was arrested Monday on an outstanding warrant from a check fraud charge after New York police told local authorities that she may have been involved in the boy’s abandonment.

The healthy, well-mannered boy of 4 or 5 was found on March 21 at a Toys “R” Us store in Brooklyn.

No immediate charges involving the youngster’s abandonment were filed.
