Low Turnout Defeats School Bond Measure
The counting of 124 absentee ballots Friday failed to give a Kettle Falls school bond measure enough votes to validate.
The $425,000 measure to provide a variety of improvements had 73.7 percent approval on May 21, but fell 41 votes short of the necessary turnout. The tally was 364 to 130.
Bond measures not only must have 60 percent support, but a turnout equal to 40 percent of the votes cast in the previous general election.
