Ramona Crampton Roseburg, Ore.
Memorial service for Ramona Jean Crampton, a former Spokane resident, was Tuesday at Winston Church of the Nazarene. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane.
Mrs. Crampton, 65, died last Saturday at home in Roseburg, where she had lived for the past 2 years. She was born in Oregon City, Ore.
She taught at Harding Elementary School in Coeur d’Alene for 20 years.
Her husband, Jim Crampton, preceded her in death.
She is survived by daughters, Carolyn Crampton of Roseburg, and Barbara Woodall and Nancy Wood, both of Spokane; son, David Crampton of Los Angeles; her parents, Ruth Smith of Roseburg, and Roy Brown of Nevada; and six grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Karen Hawkins Spokane
Service for Karen R. Hawkins, 53, is planned for 11 a.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mrs. Hawkins died Wednesday. She was a lifetime Spokane resident.
She graduated from West Valley High School and had worked as a parking attendant at the Parkade downtown since 1973. She also worked briefly at Spokane Youth Sports Association Bingo.
She is survived by her husband Robert; daughter, Susan Yeaman of Lolo, Mont.; her parents, Fred Hunt of Spokane and Martha Kelly of Spokane; brothers, Don Hunt of Diamond Lake, Wash., Steve Porter of Spokane and Rick Finch of Rathdrum, Idaho; sister, Betty Ann Smith of Spokane; stepbrother, Michael O’Flynn of Orlando, Fla.; and stepsisters, Linda Hill of Spokane and Gayle Nelson of Mesa, Ariz.

Anna Hester Spokane
Memorial service for Anna S. Hester, 99, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Hector, Minn., Mrs. Hester died Thursday. Her 100th birthday would have been Monday.
She moved to Odessa, Wash., in 1901, from Minnesota. She had briefly lived in Colfax, Wash., and Wallace before moving to Spokane 70 years ago.
She worked as an accountant for the Spokane Creamery, co-owned a movie theater in Colfax and helped open the first vending machine company in Spokane in the 1940s.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rebekah Lodge and the Royal Neighbors of America.
Survivors include brothers, Richard Nechanicky of Spokane and Ted Nechanicky of Lewiston; sister, Vera Siemers of Green Bluff; two grandchildren, three great-granddaughters and one great-great-granddaughter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the American Diabetes Association.
Heather Walty Newport, Wash.
Memorial service for Heather F. Walty, 49, is set for 10 a.m. today at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport.
Mrs. Walty died Wednesday from cancer. She was born in Beach, N.D.
She grew up in Post Falls and married John Walty in 1965.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; daughters Carrie Beal and Molly Gentry, both of Spokane, and Jessica Walty of Seattle; son Jared Walty of Spokane; her parents, Delton Schmeling of Post Falls and Kathryn Pangallo of Priest River, Idaho; brothers Forrest Schmeling of Coeur d’Alene, Garth Schmeling of Boise and Craig Schmeling of Priest River; sister, Doreen Mack of Post Falls; and six grandchildren.
Terence O’Connor Spokane
Funeral Mass for Terence J. O’Connor, 79, is set for 8 a.m. today at St. Paschal Catholic Church, with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. O’Connor died Tuesday at home. He was born in Spokane.
He was a truck driver for Kater’s Trucking in Hillyard and for IML Trucking. He retired in 1985.
He was a member of the National Brotherhood of Teamsters and the North American Hunting Club.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anna O’Connor; sons, Barry O’Connor of Virginia and Terry O’Connor of Spokane; daughters, Beverly Butler and Vickie White, both of Spokane; sisters, Ruth Donais and Ginger Klobucsher, both of Spokane; nine grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

Elsa Everson Medical Lake
Visitation for Elsa M. Everson, 14, is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-Medical Lake. Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Medical Lake Community Church, with burial at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Elsa drowned in Medical Lake May 26 while rescuing her sister. She was born in Spokane.
She was a seventh-grader at Medical Lake Middle School, and played flute in the band.
She is survived by her mother, Emmy Everson of Medical Lake; her father, Jim Everson of Medical Lake; sister, Tabitha Everson of Medical Lake; and grandmother, Ayako Nezu of Tokyo.
Ray Aman Otis Orchards
Service for Ray Edward Aman, 79, is set for 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Aman, who died May 27, was born in Peoria, Ill.
He was a retired Greyhound bus driver. He drove for 37 years.
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and the Eagles Lodge. He moved to Spokane in 1970 from Kirkland, Wash.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Aman; son, Don Aman of Hillsboro, Ore.; daughters, Barbara Massey and Darlene Reed, both of Otis Orchards, and Beckie Tau of Shreveport, La.; brother, Floyd Aman of Creswell, Ore.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Donald Popplewell Sandpoint
Service for Donald Martin Popplewell, 86, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Interment will be at Pack River Cemetery near Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Popplewell, who was born in Missouri, died Wednesday.
He grew up in South Dakota where he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp. He moved to Sandpoint in 1941 and operated a dairy farm until 1948.
He then moved to Grouse Creek near Kootenai and worked as a farmer and rancher. He later operated Popplewell Brothers Auctioneering for many years and also drove a contracted school bus for Bonner County School District.
Mr. Popplewell served as Bonner County Commissioner for 10 years and was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Grace; son, James Popplewell of Walla Walla; brother, Harold Popplewell of Oregon; two granddaughters, Geraldine Kern and Jacqueline Nickerson, both of Alaska; and two great-grandsons, Nickolas Kern and Joshua Nickerson, both of Alaska.
Dorothy Lee Spokane
A memorial service for Dorothy J. Lee, 59, will be held Sunday in conjunction with the 9:30 a.m. church service at the Pines Baptist Church, 714 S. Pines Road in Spokane. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Lee, who was born in Tacoma, died May 25.
She was raised in Montana and moved to Spokane in the mid-1960s, where she was a resident of Kirbyheaven and later Sunshine Gardens in the Spokane Valley.
She was a member of the Pines Baptist Church and had played the organ at the children’s service for many years.
She was a volunteer at Centerpointe Social Services Center in Spokane.
Survivors include a brother, Robert Lee of Denver; one niece and two nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Pines Baptist Church.
Amelia Jensen Spokane
Vigil service for Amelia (Brickner) Jensen, 87, will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Jensen, who was born in Strasburg, N.D., died Thursday.
She was a homemaker and had lived in Spokane for 22 years.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Mrs. Jensen is survived by daughters, Beverly Jensen of Spokane and Melinda Ayars of Nine Mile Falls; brothers, Pete, Pius, Edward and Eugene Brickner, all of Spokane; sisters, Sr. Narcisia Brickner of Yankton, S.D., and Mary Engle of Tacoma; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children.
Cecil Gillis Washtucna, Wash.
Service for Cecil R. Gillis, 88, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Washtucna Community Church. Vault burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery in Washtucna. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, Mr. Gillis died Friday.
He came to Washtucna with his family in 1909 and graduated from Washtucna High School.
He worked as a mechanic for International Harvester in Spokane for more than 25 years. He later moved to Potlatch, Idaho, and worked for 10 years for Potlatch Yards Lumber Company. He returned to Washtucna in 1962.
Survivors include sons, Cecil Gillis of Lompoc, Calif., and Ronald Gillis of Lacey, Wash.; brothers, Roy Gillis of Washtucna and John Gillis of Enumclaw, Wash.; sister, Velma Sitton of Pasco; and 13 grandchildren.
Donald Zeober Spokane
Memorial service for Donald Zeober, 70, is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North.
Born in Kirksville, Mo., Mr. Zeober died Wednesday.
He moved to Fairview, Mont., with his family, and graduated from high school there.
In 1946, he moved to Spokane and operated Zee’s Upholstery Shop out of his home, specializing in home furniture and restaurant furniture repair. He retired in 1994.
He served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Maxine Zeober; daughters, Leah Rae Zeober of Seattle and Michelle Zeober of Spokane; son, James Zeober of Spokane; brothers, Lloyd Lovell of Spokane, Bill Zeober of San Diego and Will Zeober of Ventura, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
Alice Snyder Coeur d’Alene
Graveside service for Alice J. Snyder, 61, was held Thursday at Forest Cemetery, Riverview Section. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene was in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Snyder, who was born in Montana, died Sunday.
She moved to the Coeur d’Alene area in 1990 from Idaho Falls, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Snyder of Las Vegas, Nev., and Randy Snyder of Auburn, Wash.; three daughters, Glenda Anderson of Shelley, Idaho, Gigi Henkel of Burley, Idaho, and Gina Skievich of Georgia; mother, Anna Redekop of Coeur d’Alene; and sister, Carol Harrison of Mead.
Janice Toone Boise
Service for Janice L. Toone, 43, was Thursday at Summers Funeral Homes in Boise. Burial was at Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise.
Mrs. Toone, a former Spokane resident, died May 26 in a boating accident in Elmore County, Idaho. She was born in Idaho Falls.
She had lived in Spokane for 12 years before moving to Boise about five years ago. She worked as a service representative for an elevator company.
She is survived by her husband, Blake; son, Jeff Kitchens; daughter, Michelle Kitchens and stepdaughter, Michelle Toone; her mother, Lila Kraft; brother, Ronald Kraft; sister, Delores Riley; and one granddaughter.
