2 Sumatra Villagers Attacked By Tigers

Compiled From Wire Services

A group of tigers attacked two villagers as they searched for firewood in a Sumatran jungle, killing one and injuring the other.

The attack occurred Saturday near the village of Gunung Tinggi, in the island’s West Aceh regency, the official Antara news agency reported Monday.

It said the body of the dead victim, identified only as Hamidi, was found incomplete as some parts had been eaten.

His companion, Basyar Ahmad, escaped by jumping into a nearby river, the report said.
