Help Develop Programs For Teen Center

Remember the Libby Teen Center? There are still people hard at work at making the center a reality. In fact, the Libby Teen Center advisory board is now seeking nominations for its Teen Advisory Committee.

The committee usually meets twice a month on Thursday afternoons at Libby, 2900 E. First Ave. The committee is involved in developing programs and policies for the center. Teens work with adults from several organizations.

The hope is the center will be opened for fun this fall, though there will be some limited programs this summer.

Nomination forms for the committee are available at the downtown YMCA in Riverfront Park and at local city and county libraries. For more information, call Phil Helean at 838-3577.

Summer activities: The Spokane Police Department is recruiting teens for its annual summer program call LEAD, four days in leadership classes at the police training center.

There are five sessions; the first begins June 25. Call 625-4085 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. for more information.

Also, KidsWeek has a teen advisory committee so teens can have input into activities for older kids at the summer festival. The two main projects they need help on are a fashion show and the Battle of the Bands.
