James A. ‘Jim’ Strope Mullan, Idaho

Memorial service for James Allen “Jim” Strope, 56, will be today at 4 p.m. at the Shoshone Funeral Chapel in Kellogg.

Mr. Strope, who was born in Wallace, died Tuesday.

He was a lifelong Silver Valley resident and had been a contract administrator for the Hecla Co. Lucky Friday Mine for the last 20 years. He had also worked for the Star Mine for many years and owned and operated The Barrel restaurant in Osburn from 1965-1975.

Mr. Strope was also a resident of Thompson Falls, Mont.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie of Thompson Falls; one son, Jim Strope of Post Falls; two daughters, Kathy Rogers of Bothell, Wash., and Sandy Strope; two stepsons, Bob Jutila of Pinehurst, Idaho, and David Jutila of California; his mother, Dorothy Strope of Coeur d’Alene; two brothers, Gary Strope of Wallace and Larry Strope of Post Falls; three sisters, Mary Ann Holling of Woodland Park, Idaho, JoAnne Strope of Coeur d’Alene and Linda McKnight of Missoula; and 11 grandchildren.

Buffey Juhnke Spirit Lake, Idaho

Graveside service for Buffey L. Juhnke, 28, will be Saturday at noon at Greenwood Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Juhnke, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Sunday from an extended illness.

She grew up in Spirit Lake and Spokane and attended Spokane Community College for two years, graduating with a degree in architecture.

She had worked in residential landscaping for six years and then for Quintex in Spokane until recently.

Ms. Juhnke was a member of the Abate Club Hoodoo Chapter in Spirit Lake.

Survivors include her father and stepmother, Lonney and Mary Juhnke of Spirit Lake; mother and stepfather, Linda and Mike Thorne of Diamond Lake, Wash.; two brothers, Michael Thorne Jr. of Pasco and Alex Thorne of Richland; and three sisters, Tammey Juhnke of Spokane, Shelley Schweigert of Marysville, Wash., and Mary Juhnke of Florida.

Margaret Fossum Coeur d’Alene

Visitation for Margaret Elizabeth Fossum, 77, will be held today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Fossum, a lifelong Coeur d’Alene resident, died Tuesday.

She grew up and attended schools in Coeur d’Alene and later worked for Inland Motor Freight for many years. She also was employed at Lake City Drug Store.

Survivors include her husband, Andy; one son, Jeffrey Fossum of Georgia; one grandson, Andrew Fossum of Georgia; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Fossum of Oregon.

Kathryn (Gosselin) Holt Cannon Beach, Ore.

No service will be held for Kathryn Ann “Katy” (Gosselin) Holt, 53. Hughes-Ransom Mortuary in Seaside, Ore., is in charge of cremation and arrangements.

Born in Butte, Mont., Mrs. Holt died Saturday at home.

She lived in Spokane for 24 years and was a homemaker. She moved to Cannon Beach three years ago.

She is survived by one son, Steven Dean of Cannon Beach; one daughter, Shawna Richardson of Mount Vernon, Ore.; and one grandson.
