Clearwater Digs Out

National forests

The Clearwater National Forest in central Idaho has suffered massive back-country landslides as a result of torrential rains in November.

As a result, 80 percent of its lower-elevation trails and 20 percent of the trails at higher elevations are in need of repair. Because of personnel and money limitations, many trails may not be cleared this summer.
