Charles Shepard Spokane
Memorial service for Charles S. “Chuck” Shepard, 70, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North.
Mr. Shepard, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.
He graduated from Cheney High School and Kinman Business University.
He worked for the Postal Service in Cheney and served as Cheney postmaster from 1965 to 1968. He also worked for the Postal Service in Seattle and in Spokane at the district office. He retired in 1986 as director of finance at the Spokane Sectional Center.
He was a World War II Navy veteran and served in the South Pacific.
Mr. Shepard was a member of American Legion Post No. 72, the Cheney Volunteer Fire Department, Eagles Lodge No. 2, Spokane Curling Club and the Deer Lake Property Owners Association.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Berneal Shepard; two sons, Daniel and Timm Shepard, both of Cheney; one brother, Dick Shepard of Deer Lake, Wash.; one sister, Jeannine Henderson of Millwood; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Walton ‘Buzz’ Schroeder Spokane
Memorial service for Walton H. “Buzz” Schroeder, 96, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.
Mr. Schroeder, who died Monday, was born in Arago, Ore.
He graduated from Whitman College and began a 42-year career with Standard Oil Co. of California. He worked in Portland, Spokane, Honolulu and Los Angeles.
In 1965 he returned to Spokane.
He served as executive secretary of the Spokane Cougar Club from 1965 to 1984 and, in honor of his service, the Cougar Club holds the Buzz Schroeder Scramble golf tournament.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alma Schroeder; one son, George Schroeder of Spokane; one daughter, Marcia Kelly of Aloha, Ore.; and four grandchildren.

Adam Glatt Spokane
Funeral Mass for Adam Glatt, 76, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Glatt, who was born in Hague, N.D., died Saturday.
He moved to Spokane in 1945 and started a painting contractor business in 1952. He passed the business on to his youngest son, Randy, in 1982, when he retired.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish and the Knights of Columbus.
His wife of 44 years, Katherine (Devenere) Glatt, died in 1990.
Survivors include two sons, Gary and Randy Glatt, both of Spokane; two daughters, Rita Flippen of Spokane and Linda Johnson of Snohomish, Wash.; five brothers, Casper, Pete and Frank Glatt, all of Spokane, the Rev. Eugene Glatt of Rosalia, Wash., and Wally Glatt of Cincinnati; five sisters, Diana Traxinger, Katie Klein, Clara “Toots” Miller and Terry Peplinski, all of Spokane, and Mary Weinzirl of Lodi, Calif.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
George Holmstrom Spokane
Memorial service for George L. Holmstrom, 81, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Covenant Church. Private burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Holmstrom, 81, died Sunday at home. He was a lifetime Spokane resident.
He graduated from North Central High School and worked for the Postal Service as a letter carrier for 30 years. He also worked for Davis & Hosch Music for 11 years, retiring in 1989.
He served in the Army in Panama for three years during World War II.
He married Mary Alice Mildes in 1975 in Spokane.
Mr. Holmstrom was a member of First Covenant Church and served as church financial secretary for 16 years and sang in the choir. He was also a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Association of Retired Persons.
He is survived by his wife; one stepdaughter, Donna Kuhnle of Hawaii; and four stepgrandchildren.

Jackson Guy Ephrata, Wash.
Service for Jackson A. Guy, 62, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Nicoles Funeral Home in Ephrata. Burial will be Thursday at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane.
Mr. Guy, who was born in Watts, Okla., died Saturday.
He moved to Leavenworth, Wash., in 1940, and later moved to Wenatchee, where he worked as a meat cutter and as a designer on the Rocky Reach Dam. He moved to Spokane in 1960 and continued to work in engineering for the city of Spokane and for Kaiser Aluminum in Mead. He retired in 1982.
He moved to Ephrata in 1983 and worked for the Grant County Public Utility District for six years until poor health forced him to retire.
He and his wife, Doris, operated the Good Life Health Food Store until 1994.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Lawrence Guy of Spokane; one daughter, Melissa Eggers of Polson, Mont.; one stepdaughter, Laura Fairley of Spokane; five sisters, Virginia Lovejoy of East Wenatchee, Ella Bradshaw of Leavenworth, Molly Gildersleeve of Wenatchee, Sally Mathews of Bellevue, Wash., and Alice Stubbs of Cashmere, Wash.; two brothers, Martin Guy of North Bend, Wash., and Bill Guy of Leavenworth; and seven grandchildren.
Don Haunschild Spokane
Memorial service for Don L. Haunschild, 67, will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Shadle Park Presbyterian Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Haunschild, who died Saturday, was born in Mondovi, Wis.
He graduated from North Central High School and was a 55-year Spokane resident. He was a retired Teamster and worked for American Linen for many years.
He was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 2.
Mr. Haunschild is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marilyn Haunschild; five children, Bobette Manning of Tucson, Ariz., Ann Baker of Seattle, Peter Haunschild of San Jose, Calif., Lindy Haunschild of Spokane and Karen Nelson of Portland; his parents, Milton and Isabel Haunschild of Spokane; two brothers, Dick Haunschild of Spokane and Jim Haunschild of Seattle; and seven grandchildren.
Harold ‘Doc’ Messersmith Coeur d’Alene
Graveside service for Harold “Doc” Messersmith, 78, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Messersmith, who was born in Idaho, died Friday.
He moved to Coeur d’Alene in the 1950s and worked as a delivery truck driver for Standard Oil Co.
He previously owned and operated a drugstore and restaurant in Southern California.
Mr. Messersmith was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Eagles and Elks Lodges.
Survivors include his wife, Florence; one daughter, Penny Ertner of Oregon; two stepdaughters, Joan Hankel of Newman Lake and Pat Hamby of Dalton Gardens, Idaho; one brother, Dick Messersmith of California; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Jerry Graves Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Jerry L. Graves, 49, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Mr. Graves, who was born in Sandpoint, died Friday.
He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1946 and worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 20 years.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, American Bowling Congress, American Motorcycle Association and the original Bud Bunch. Mr. Graves served in the Army in Vietnam.
Survivors include his father, Kenneth of Coeur d’Alene; two brothers, Dennis Graves of Boise and Kenny Graves Jr. of Coeur d’Alene; two sisters, Janet Barber of Spokane and Diana Sarratt of Sandpoint; and his grandmother, Marion Graves of Sandpoint.
Leta Harleman Boise
Graveside inurnment for Leta Mildred (Bostwick) Harleman, 91, will be at Newport (Wash.) Cemetery at a later date. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Harleman, who died June 4, was born in Spokane.
She graduated from Cheney Normal School and was a teacher, and she and her husband also operated a dairy farm south of Newport.
Her husband, Maurice Harleman, died in 1985, and she moved to Boise in 1987.
She was a member of the Washington State Retired Teachers Association and the Boise Senior Center.
She is survived by two sons, Paul and Ray Harleman; one daughter, Sharon Tandy; and several grandchildren.
Gordon Rehn Ritzville, Wash.
Visitation for Gordon Rehn, 65, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery. Memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Zion Congregational Church in Ritzville.
Mr. Rehn, a lifetime Ritzville resident died Sunday at home.
In 1951 he married Vivian White. He worked for the City of Ritzville from 1955 until 1979, when he retired as public works director and street superintendent.
He was a member of Zion Congregational Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Rehn of Electric City, Wash., and Ron Rehn of Colville, Wash.; one brother, Glenn Rehn of Olmstead, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Congregational Church or the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
Marie ‘Molly’ Reeves Lacey, Wash.
Memorial service for Marie L. “Molly” Reeves, 69, is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South.
Mrs. Reeves, who died May 29, was born in Germany.
She lived in Spokane from 1956 until 1992, when she moved to Lacey. She worked at Lakeland Village for 25 years and retired in 1991.
Mrs. Reeves is survived by two sons, Jack Reeves of Vancouver, Wash., and William Reeves of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory; two daughters, Lynn Naumowicz of Spokane and Maureen Mortlock of Lacey; her children’s father, George Reeves of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Gisela Roehm of Switzerland and Irmgard Kempf of Germany; and nine grandchildren.
Mary Rowe Spokane
Funeral Mass for Mary L. Rowe, 90, will be at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. HennesseySmith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Crookston, Minn., Mrs. Rowe died Saturday.
She was a Spokane resident for 85 years and worked as a salad chef. She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes. Her husband, George Rowe, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, George Rowe of Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Donald Freeman Spokane
Memorial service for Donald Freeman, 67, was Tuesday at Central Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Mr. Freeman, who was born in Cadiz, Ky., died Friday.
He lived in Renton, Wash., and moved to Spokane in 1953.
He and his wife, Corenne, co-owned Schenck Wholesale Fabric Store. In 1967 he opened Inland Fabrics, which he operated from 1968 until 1976.
He served in the Marine Corps for two years. Survivors include his wife of 48 years; one son, Larry of California; one daughter, Linda of Spokane; his mother, Mima Freeman; and five brothers, Douglas, Wallace, John Dee, William and Harold Freeman.
Lydia Hulett Spokane
No service will be held for Lydia M. Hulett, 96. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge Mrs. Hulett died Saturday. She was born in Ritzville.
She was a 78-year Spokane resident and worked as a bookkeeper for a hardware supply store. Her husband, Lee Hulett, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Stanley Hulett of Colbert; a sister, Clara Peacock of Tujunga, Calif.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Matilda Randich Spokane
Private memorial service for Matilda A. Randich, 90, is set for Friday at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Deer Park. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Oklahoma, Mrs. Randich died Monday.
She moved to Spokane in the 1920s and married Anton Randich in 1938. They left Spokane and returned in the 1950s.
Mrs. Randich was a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Domini of Spokane; one son, Thomas Randich of Ruskins, Fla.; one brother, Adolph Swanda of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Irene Koelsch of Locust Grove, Okla., Margaret Koelsch of Jones, Okla., and Heleyn Koelsch of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
