Son Sued For Golfer’s Death

Compiled From Wire Services

A woman whose husband died after falling off a golf cart in June 1994 is suing her son, who was driving the cart, and the cart’s manufacturer.

The lawsuit filed by Diana J. Nagy in Kanawha County Circuit Court seeks $15 million in damages in the death of her husband, Alexander Nagy Jr.

It names her son, Alexander Nagy III, Berry Hills Country Club, the cart’s manufacturer, Textron Inc. of Providence, R.I., and two subsidiaries.

The lawsuit said the elder Nagy had been drinking when he fell out of the cart during a tournament at the South Charleston golf course. Nagy, 49, died the next day, it said.

The lawsuit alleged the course’s carts were defective because they lacked seat belts, doors and better brakes and suspension.
